no they would probably still do WTS but in a different way..

W . T . S REQ8 UNID GOTHIC SWORD 10K.......1
W . T . S REQ8 UNID GOTHIC SWORD 10K.......2
W . T . S REQ8 UNID GOTHIC SWORD 10K.......3

Will then become:
W . T . S REQ8 UNID GOTHIC SWORD 10K - CHECK AUCTION HOUSE! ....1
W . T . S REQ8 UNID GOTHIC SWORD 10K - CHECK AUCTION HOUSE! ....2
W . T . S REQ8 UNID GOTHIC SWORD 10K - CHECK AUCTION HOUSE! ....3

I agree.. not to mention that many of the people you see spamming items over, and over, and over, and over.. they are people who are trying to get a very high price for an item. Otherwise you wouldn't see them trying to sell it for days on end. They would take a reasonable offer and be done with it. But many people decide "this item is worth X" and that's all they are going to take for it. They are not the kind of people who are going to want to put it for auction, wait for hours or days for the results, and take a chance on getting far far less than they wanted for it. They will *still* continue to spam and try to get the high (and insane) price they demand.

It all depends on how smart the seller is. If it was my sword, I would bid with my other account, to make sure the price is high.
Smart people don't have to spam, but scammers will still have to.

An interesting point, I must agree. It also makes one think about the possible problems they will have with an auction house. I don't think anyone should be able to bid on their own items to manipulate the prices in such a manner. It's easy enough to keep people from being able to bid on their own items from the same account. But how can they stop people with multiple accounts? Or for that matter, people that get friends to bid for them, to drive up the price? This does not bode well, IMO.

About the only thing I can see to deal with is that, occasionally, someone will push a bid too far and end up being the high bid.. but even then, they'll just put it right back up for bid again afterwords... Maybe this is part of the reason we never got auction houses yet.. trying to cover any and all possible abuses it taking them some time?

just like to put my share of thoughts in this...

yes i do realise a general decline in population, especially in jungle area... but areas like ascalon, droks and crystal desert still do have contain some decent players...

and funnily, i brought my second copy of gw 1, and expect pre to be ABSOLUTELY empty given faction fever... to my surprise, it is filled as ever ^^

The decline is only natural since everyone wants to do the new fun things, thats life.

But it actually hightlight the importance of joining a guild that will provide support and help for its members to do those old missions and areas for its fellow members.

Otherwise you better start learning to play with hencies.

A way to stop this would be people post wat they want to BUY in the action house, not wat they want to sell. Then sellers either try to put a price lower than others, while still being in a reasonable range, or if it was put to low in the first place, no one trys to sell it to that person.

Also, that way, if any noobs went to the option house, no one could rip them off and try to sell it to the noob for a way higher price than its worth. The noob would have to ask people how much it is worth before tehy auction to buy it.

I really don't think you could have scams with this, and the multiple account thing wouldn't work, because you wouldn't WANT people to try to sell it, because then if u try to outbid them, you would get less money, so as far as I can think of, problem solved.

plus, people that buy would probably save money, so it would benifit the buyer, and the seller doesn't have to try to sell if if they think it is too low so everyone wins! (i think)

Yes, you can be trader too. I couldn't find the part where it said that every trader can spam as much as they like. Can you give me a clue, and I'll solve that mystery for you. It very tough to form a party, because of the W.T.S. spam. Do I have to thank you for that?'

Go to the trade chat! You are just waiting for the W.T.S. spam. Incouraging spam is just as bad, imho.

Don't you think all the spam has something to do with the decline? Lol, I guess you must be one of these trade spammers. Trade has completely halted all other forms of communications, making lots of people play with chat off.

I for one am greatly disturb (as much as I can be over a game) about this. I recently started a mesmer in Tyria for the simple desire of getting some of the more desirable elites that cannot be found in Cantha. My hope was to do what I did with my monk; get into a new area, clear the missions, clear the quests, cap any elites there might be. I’ve been following this method thus far and I think I’ve made pretty good time now that I am at Bloodstone Fen. The catch; the place is nearly empty. This worries me; I don’t care so much about doing quests, but I consider mission completion and skill capping a must for this character and if I can’t complete missions, I can’t progress (seeing as I lack the funds to hire a runner and I’m not a big fan of the concept anyway).

One possible problem I see on the horizon is getting my two 15 attribute point quests completed. Months ago when I was playing with my monk I had a hard enough time getting a decent party for said quests and I would imagine it will be near impossible by the time I reach the desert.

Some possible solutions to this could be to enlist a few guildies to help me get to and cap the skills I want, thus spawning that ever annoying nagging sensation when I see the Tyria Mission Completion bar in my hero window or complete areas fogged out on the tyria map. Regardless, I fear soon this may become necessary if I wish to have a remotely successful character.

The reasoning for this decline in the population of Tyria is due to many things and is no mystery, but I wanted to share my concerns (not really asking for a fix as that would be moronic) and give others their chance to share theirs.

Thanks for listening to me rant

Well on the plus side the IDIOT population has started to drop

My friend pointed out, that Anet seem to be ignoring Tyria since the release Of Factions, we had the pre-release event and now the Dragon event. Why not create a special day celebrating the return of Saul D'Alessio? Or a day commemorating the fall of the great northern wall.

Or adding more quests/sideline stories/missions?

They could do this by opening more of the terratories, there are a lot of areas around Tyria which we can't get access to.

Perhaps more Vizunah Square style Missions, say clearing the dead out of a certain area of Kryta, or clearing the Charr out of an area.

Greens aren't content, they are farm bait for the bored. Content such as events, new quests and missions are content. Chapter 1 has had no new content added since Factions came out. I don't think it will get any new content either. If Anet adds new content to older chapters then they would be lessening the reasons to buy new chapters.

There are only a few high end areas in Tyria that are worth going too. Two are locked* behind that terrible favor system and the other (SF) has been turned into a farm yard with almost no hope of getting a group for the actual content to be played. Tombs has no quests, it's just a chance for yet another green item to drop.

*Untill the favor system is dropped and the content is readily available for players to plan and schedule adventures there, it's useless. If farming for ectos and shards is the concern, then make those drop only when favor is held, the problem is solved.

Declining populations in older chapters are of small concern to those who have learned how to effectively use henchmen. The issue is also lessened by joining a sizable guild with a high percentage of active members. Combining these two things also functions well.

Or, to sum up: Use henchies and guildies.
